white text that reads interview

We will begin with an interview to learn more about you, your lifestyle, and where you are having challenges with your hearing. Some questions we will ask include:

  • Has anyone in your family ever had any hearing problems?
  • Have you suffered an injury or illness that may have caused hearing loss?
  • Have you taken any medication(s) that might have effected your hearing?
  • Can you recall any events or activities where you experienced loud sounds?

After our discussion, we will examine the inner ear for any earwax impaction or damage to the ear canal or eardrum. We will use a video otoscope so you can see the inside of your own ears as we perform the ear exam.

The next step is a hearing test where we will diagnose the severity of your hearing loss. We will perform a series of tests to diagnose your exact hearing impairment.

If we discover evidence of hearing loss from these tests, we’ll document your results on an audiogram.
